Fall
Leaves Ohio Star
Select three fabrics
thinking fall colors. Background
fabric (bk) is fall leaves, star points (a) are a fall gold, and third color
(b) is a complementary fabric to the leaves.
Cut all 5 ¼” squares
diagonally twice.
Sew the background and
complementary triangles to the gold triangles. Press seams open, and then sew these half square triangle
units together according to the diagram.
Press seams open. Square
blocks to measure 4 ½”. Arrange
blocks according to diagram and sew into rows, sew rows into block. Your block should measure
12 ½”unfinished.
Faux Lemoyne Star
Choose 4 different fall
colors and off-white for the background.
Assign a letter to each
fall color. This will make it
easier to piece together.
Take two triangles from
each color and sew each to a background triangle. You will now have 8 half square triangle blocks.
Take the remaining
bright fall color triangles and stitch color a to color b
and color c to color d, repeat
twice.
Press all seams open.
Square up all the half
square triangle blocks to measure 3 ½”.
Arrange the blocks according to the diagram and stitch together to make
your faux Lemoyne Star block to measure an unfinished 12 ½”.
