From the Fat Quarter Gazette --August 2009

Special Thanks From Pat Jones

To all who stitched (or even thought about it), a big hug and thank you for the hearts and flowers quilt presented to me last meeting. It brought a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat and words can't tell you how much I appreciate all the work and love that went into that quilt. Someone even stitched the binding by hand!!! It is truly a treasure, as are all of you. --Pat Jones

Special Thanks to Barbara Larson

Our website is up and running and looks great. If you have any ideas for Barbara to include on the website, contact her (at qgwebgirl@gmail.com)

Barbara also helped greatly with getting our directory out. Others were a large part of that project, as well. A big thank you to all who were involved in the directory project. (especially Trudy Young, who provided most of the pictures to get started.)

From the Minutes of our July 14 Meeting

ее Raffle Quilt: Lynn Wilson thanked Walla Walla Sew and Vac for displaying the raffle quilt . . . over the past several months. The Farmer's Market will allow us to be present up to six days over three weekends . . . Walmart will allow us to show the raffle quilt for 14 days.

Action Item: After discussion of these offers, the group agreed by consensus to take advantage of the Farmer's Market offer for six days of quilt display on as many Saturdays and Sundays as possible, with the focus being dates when big community events are going on.
By consensus the group agreed to try displaying the quilt at Walmart as people are available. Lynn will email members for help.

ее Quilt Festival: Becky Martin reported that the Quilt Festival Committee was invited to put their raffle quilt on display in Milton-Freewater and won 1st prize. (NOTE: see the quilt in the July Festival Newsletter. The link is at the bottom of the page under our Quilt Festival tab on this website.)

ее Block Lotto: Terri Helberg won the frog blocks. Tam's Blocks were divided in two with the patriotic color-scheme blocks won by Marilee McQuarrie. The blocks with the non-patriotic color scheme were won by Barbara Bohlman. Block lotto patterns are now available on the Guild website and will also be included in the newsletter in the future. A whirligig block in pink and purple was shown as the block challenge for (the) August (meeting).

ее Door Prize: Lynn Wilson won the door prize.

ее Habitat for Humanity: Jean reported on the need for more house blocks.
